CANON USA - ICELAND

Our second project for Canon USA took us to Iceland, the most astonishing place I’ve ever been. On our first night, we met some new Icelandic friends and they took us to a local village festival with live Icelandic music. Their incredible hospitality and passion for life was so vibrant from the start. Later that night, we saw the Northern lights for the first time and thus concluded an absolutely epic start to the trip.

The purpose of our mission was to film a travel piece using the new Canon EOS R5C camera. However, upon meeting filmmaker Jay Ford on the first day and hearing his story, we knew we had something with much more depth than just a travel film. So we pivoted the entire direction of the project and drew up a whole new game plan to connect Jay’s story with this beautiful place we were in.

From the brilliant landscapes to Northern lights and ice caves, this part of the world blew my mind. What struck me most was how happy native folk were despite living in a place with the least amount of sunlight and some of the harshest weather on the planet. On our flight home, we passed over Greenland at golden hour which was cherry on top. This was by far of my most memorable projects and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to work alongside my friends for Canon USA.
